AIG completes the acquisition of Laya Healthcare

Goodbody was appointed to manage the sale of Laya Healthcare to insurance giant AIG.

Laya Healthcare developed from the first health insurer established to compete with the former state monopoly provider. Following a number of ownership changes, it was the subject of a management buyout in 2012, when Ireland was suffering from a deep recession. As the company was reshaped and the economy normalised, it became apparent that there was interest from international companies in the sector. AIG took over Laya Healthcare for €80 million.

 

All transactions
